One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel García Márquez is a book that attempts and achieves the foundation of the universe —constructing the life of a family, a town and the world. In Seis Segundos de Frenesí (Six seconds of frenzy) David Medina attempts the exhaustive observation of the essential materials of the novel by building a library that wants to be an observatory and laboratory of language and its powers. Obsessive games of automatic combinatorics (materialized by a software made by the artist) replace each word of the title and the first fragment of the original text with synonyms or parallels that stretch, recompose and expand the meaning —preserving the grammatical structure of the original but always leading to a new text.

The library consists of 99 volumes composed by this method that unfolds at superhuman speed (each book written in a few seconds), disconnected from the control (the author establishing the substitution rules but without being able to predict what the machine will write) and from an excess that points towards infinity (this library being just an infinitesimal fraction of the possible total of books).

Sir seconds of frenzy is a library that is inserted into the space of the National Library as a fractal or a delirious simile that tries to think language as texture and matter not only of literature but of life and all its objects.
